Electricity theft at mosques

I WANT to draw the attention of the government towards electricity theft in mosques. In my city, Naudero, and its suburbs mosques measuring 12 by 12 feet are kept cool by two to three airconditioners runnng 24 hours a day without meters.

Even people sleep in mosques after prayers, especially during Ramazan. All mosques are getting power from illegal ‘kunda’ connections without paying any bills, but paying bribes to meter readers.

The authorities should take stern steps, as early as possible, to stop power theft by mosques.

What could be better use of electricity than using it in mosques? The cost of electricity in mosques, in theory, should be the responsibility of the entire nation of the Islamic nation of Pakistan. Those who pay for lights in the streets should also pay for electricity consumed in lights and air-conditioner in mosques.

Dr. Faheem has highlighted a problem that I always wondered about. How come an avergae person is scared to switch on his airconditioner because of the bill, mosques continue to run them 24 hours/day. How shameful that mosques are stealing the electricity?. and we call ourselves Muslims....

What a shameful comment and justification by a man named " Mustafa ". Before free power in masjids becomes law, stealing power in masjids is Haram.

Aoa, Such a shame, Mosques should be the top most institute to teach the teachings of Holy Prophet (SAW) not the other way around. I am so shocked to read it, whats wrong with the majority of people in Pakistan, how do they justify so much corruption in everything and astagfiruallah so much so in mosques and with Hajji's as well :-(, May Allah save us from the corrupts, ameen.

A population is known by what they do. The mosques are run by the people from our community. These people are our friends, brothers, uncles, parents etc. If we all do wrong things, our community is bound to do the same. However, this is not what Rasool Allah told us to do. This reflects our community's ethics and morales and not what our religion has taught us.
