APHC calls for strike on 27th

SRINAGAR, Oct 24: The APHC on Thursday urged the people of occupied Kashmir to observe a strike to mark the 55th anniversary of Indian troop deployment.

Indian forces invaded Kashmir on Oct 27, 1947, after its Hindu ruler requested their help to fend off an invasion by tribesmen.

The APHC called Oct 27 a “black day” as it was the date when “Indian troops annexed Kashmir by deceit and fraud”.

“The Hurriyat appeals to the people of Kashmir to observe strike on Oct 27 to show to the world that under no circumstances do they accept India’s occupation of their land,” it said in a statement.—AFP
