Students raise funds for Abbas Town families

A day after the Abbas Town bombings, students from various universities in Karachi, as well as civil society activists joined hands to raise funds for those affected by the blast. The students managed to raise more than ten lakh rupees in a matter of four hours. The funds will go to the Shaheed Foundation, which will then be divided into three smaller units – rehabilitation and shelter, medical and education.

Meanwhile the protestors at Teen Talwar, were shelled with tear gas canisters by the police in the evening. According to DIG south Shahid Hayat, the shells were fired because some youth tried to damage near-by shops. The sit-in was called off near midnight. - Video by Sara Faruqi and Kurt Menezes
