KARACHI, July 11: Pakistan’s first technical and vocational training university will be established in Hyderabad and approval in this connection has been given in the 11th board of governors’ meeting of the Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA).

The meeting held here on Wednesday was chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah at the Chief Minister’s House.

The chief minister also gave his approval for the internship programme through which 100,000 youngsters would be imparted training in various industries.

It was also decided in the meeting that a provincial apprenticeship draft bill would be presented before the Sindh cabinet.

The participants of the meeting also approved a vocational training programme in all jails of the province for prisoners’ welfare.

A budget for STEVTA for the financial year 2012-13 was also approved in the meeting.

The participants in the meeting also approved the resumption of a production unit of the Swedish College while ensuring provision of furniture in all government organisations especially those operating under the health and education departments.—APP
