SUKKUR: A 16-year-old youth, Rahib Ali, succumbed to his injury while he and his family members, were waiting for an ambulance to transport him to a major hospital in Larkana, on Sunday.
The family, residents of Channa Mohalla in Jacobabad district, told media personnel that Rahib was playing in a park when an iron rod hooked to a swing pierced through his leg.
His father, Ghulam Abbas Mirali, said that his younger son took Rahib to the Jacobabad Civil Hospital soon afterwards but after emergency treatment, he was referred to a major hospital in Larkana for advanced treatment.
He said that he and other family members repeatedly called the Rescue-1122 to seek an ambulance but it did not arrive over the next few hours. Rahib’s condition, in the meantime, continued to deteriorate due to acute pain after profuse bleeding from his injury, he said, and wondered that the Jacobabad Civil Hospital did not have the required treatment facility for such, not so serious, cases.
He also regretted that the Rescue-1122 failed to rush an ambulance to the civil hospital.
In a state of shock, he pointed out that his teenage son succumbed to his injuries without receiving proper treatment.
