BAHAWALPUR: The Qureshiwala police in Lodhran district on Sunday claimed to have arrested a man for allegedly attempting to rape a minor girl in a nearby basti.

According to a police spokesperson, victim S (6) was playing in the street when A allegedly lured her to a room on the pretext of giving her candies. There he allegedly attempted to rape her. However, he claimed that on hearing the victim’s screams, neighbourhood residents gathered there and the suspect fled from the scene, leaving the victim there.

On the complaint of the victim’s father, the Qureshiwala police registered a case against the suspect and later arrested him.

Meanwhile, the Jallah Arian police also in Lodhran claimed to have arrested Mian Chiragh, Pir Kamal, Pir Saeed, Tariq Shehzad for allegedly attempting to kidnap Shanaza Nawaz (5), while suspect Arshad was yet to be arrested.

Police claimed the accused attempted to abduct the girl when she was playing outside her house on Saturday in Chak 34/M.

On the complaint of her father Shahid Nawaz, the Jallah Arian police registered a case and arrested four of the accused while the fifth suspect was absconding.

ARREST: The Kahror Pacca City police claimed to have arrested a man for car-drifting while another suspect fled from the scene.

According to a police spokesperson, police conducted a raid near railway crossing in Kahror Pacca on a tip-off and arrested one Muhammad Asif for car-drifting, while suspect Shoaib fled away.The raiding party impounded their cars, he added.

Meanwhile, the Burewala City police in Vehari district claimed to have arrested motorcyclist Arshad Ali for one-wheeling and impounded his motorcycle.
