PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) has been selected for the prestigious ASOCIO Digital Government Award 2026, recognising its outstanding achievements, innovation and contribution to digital transformation across the Asia–Oceania region in the public sector.
According to a statement issued here, ASOCIO (Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation) is a leading regional ICT federation representing more than 24 member economies across Asia-Oceania including Australia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Singapore, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Bhutan, Brunei, Laos, Macau, Mongolia and Myanmar, among others.
It said that the awards were regarded by ASOCIO as one of the region’s most respected and prestigious ICT recognition programmes, honouring excellence, leadership and transformative impact in digital innovation.
“This international recognition belongs to the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the entire KPITB team — reflecting our collective commitment to building a Digital Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that is smarter, connected and citizen-centric,” it said.
KPITB managing director Akif Khan told Dawn that they had they managed to win the prestigious award on the basis of the Digital KP Roadmap 2030 and Dastak platform.
He said that the Dastak app had earlier last year won first place in the Government and Citizen Services category at the International Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2025 held in Taiwan while competing against entries from 17 nations, the public service delivery portal was recognised for excellence in digital governance and AI integration.
In a statement issued here, KP minister for information Shafi Jan said that KP performance in technology and digital development was being recognised at the global level, which is a proud moment for both the province and the country.
He said that this international recognition is clear evidence of the KP government’s success in implementing its digital policy and effectively using technology to improve public services.
