SWABI: The Nowshera and Mardan Rescue 1122 personnel have joined the Swabi teams and divers and launched a joint operation on Sunday in the Indus River to recover the bodies of five people who had drowned in Hund village area on the Independence Day.
Awais Babar, district emergency officer Rescue 1122 Swabi said that the regional director Mardan division Imran Khan Yousafzai visited the Indus River operation sites and watched the ongoing rescue operation.
Emergency officer Swabi Nauman Khan gave a detailed briefing to the director about the ongoing operation, the action of the diving teams and the search for the missing persons.
Mr Yousafzai reviewed the performance of the diving teams engaged in the operation and gave necessary instructions to making the operation a success.
Mr Babar said that the bodies of Mehran (a guest from Nabi Village), a man and his two sons form Mardan and a person belonging to Charsadda have not yet recovered and only the body of 14-year-old boy identified as Mashal Khan of Yar Hussain, Swabi was recovered from the Hund area on Saturday.
He said that a search and rescue operation is currently under way at three different locations in the Indus River for the recovery of missing persons. Rescue teams are engaged in search operations at areas of Hund Hotels, Major Amir Farmhouse and Nabi Village.
He said that about 40 rescue personnel of the three districts participated in the operation. Answering a question, he said that the operation would continue till the recovery of all bodies.
