CRIMINALS riding motorcycles in Karachi frequently exploit ordinary helmets to conceal their faces during their illegal activities. This practice severely hampers law-enforcement efforts as it makes identification even through CCTV cameras almost impossible.
There is an urgent need to introduce modernised, government-approved helmets featuring the official government logo and a prominent, high-visibility registration number. These especially-designed helmets should be declared mandatory for all two-wheeler riders across the province.
Such a measure would surely serve as an effective deterrent against crime by enabling quick and reliable identification of individuals through CCTV footage. It will greatly assist the police in maintaining law and order while ensuring due security. Launching a helmet with visible identity would be a meaningful step towards safety.
