RAWALPINDI: A woman died allegedly from shock after witnessing the abduction of her daughter from their house in Dhoke Chaudhrian on Monday, police said.

According to an FIR registered at Chaklala police station, Muhammad Yaquoob Khan, a resident of Bagh, said his two divorced daughters lived with him in a rented house in Rawalpindi. His elder daughter has three children, while his younger daughter, Rabia, lives with her young son.

The complainant said he had gone to Bagh with his elder daughter and grandchildren to attend a nephew’s wedding, while his wife and Rabia remained at home.

He said his wife called him at around 5pm and informed him that their nephew, who was settled in Qatar and was currently visiting Pakistan, had come to their house and allegedly taken Rabia away by force.

According to the FIR, his wife was deeply shocked by the incident and asked him to return to Rawalpindi immediately. While the family was travelling back, they received a call from a relative informing them that his wife, Ruqayya, had died.

The complainant said they reached home at around 11pm and found that his wife had already died.

Police have registered a case against the accused under sections relating to kidnapping and murder on the complaint of the deceased’s husband. Further investigation is underway.
