Taylor Swift’s ‘wedding trash’ sold!
An artist has sold out of plastic cubes containing rubbish collected from outside Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding in New York.
Justin Gignac collected rubbish from the streets outside the venue after the wedding and sealed items such as paper cups, candy wrappers, cigarette butts and even a single AirPod inside clear cubes.
The limited-edition ‘Pocket Garbage’ cubes, marked ‘JUST&T MARRIED,’ were sold for $25 each, with all 50 quickly bought by Swift fans.
Gignac, who has created similar artwork to commemorate major events for years, said he wasn’t invited to the wedding and collected everything from outside the celebration. He also joked that he has a special wedding cube ready if the newlyweds want one.
Student graduates with record 11.99 GPA
A Florida student graduated with a record-breaking 11.99 weighted GPA, prompting his school district to change how grade point averages are calculated.
Vaibhav Bhaskar, valedictorian of Steinbrenner High School, earned the highest GPA in Florida history by taking 20 Advanced Placement classes and 24 dual-enrolment college courses — enough to earn an associate’s degree. He will attend Duke University this fall.
The Hillsborough County Public Schools has now voted to cap GPAs starting with next year’s graduating class, ensuring Bhaskar’s record cannot be matched in the district.
World’s most complicated watch
Vacheron Constantin’s Berkley Grand Complication is considered the world’s most complicated watch, featuring 63 complications, or functions beyond telling the time.
The unique pocket watch, created for a private collector, took eight years to develop.
Housed in an 18-karat white gold case, it weighs about 960 grammes and contains 2,870 mechanical components, surpassing the previous record-holder, Patek Philippe’s Calibre 89, which had 33 complications.
Although its price has never been revealed, experts estimate the timepiece is worth more than $10 million, with its value expected to rise as a one-of-a-kind collector’s item.
Micro-drones hunt insects
US startup Tornyol is developing AI-powered micro-drones designed to identify and shoot down flying insects such as mosquitoes, offering a cheaper alternative to chemical pest control.
The company recently demonstrated its first successful mid-air test by using a tiny drone to track and shoot down a moth. Future 40-gram drones are expected to use microphones, ultrasonic sensors and AI to detect mosquitoes by the unique sound of their wingbeats.
The founders hope swarms of the drones could one day eliminate mosquitoes across entire urban areas.
