SHANGLA: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam on Tuesday announced Rs2 million compensation for the families of each miner who died in a recent coal mine explosion in Quetta.
Mr Muqam announced this during a visit to the homes of the deceased workers in Mian Kalay Pirabad, Belay Baba and Kuz Kana areas, where he offered condolences to the bereaved families.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the government shared the grief of the families of the victims and would not leave them alone at this critical juncture.
Mr Muqam said that immediately after learning about the accident, he contacted the Balochistan governor, chief minister and chief secretary, asking them to expedite the rescue operation, utilise all available resources and ensure the recovery of the trapped miners.
