BANNU: Aleema Khan, the sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, visited Bannu on Sunday, as part of the party’s street movement campaign and urged workers to attend the gathering planned for August 5.

PTI workers welcomed her at various locations and pledged to demonstrate their political strength by participating in large numbers in the party’s August 5 rally.

Aleema Khan went to Central Prison Bannu, where she met PTI workers who had been convicted in cases related to the May 9 incidents.

She inquired about their well-being and expressed solidarity with them.

MNA Maulana Syed Naseem Ali Shah, MPA Malik Pakhtoon Yar Khan, former minister Malik Shah Mohammad Khan Wazeer, PTI regional general secretary Malik Adnan Khan, district president Malik Gul Baz Khan, general secretary Iqbal Jadoon Khan, and others were present.

Later, addressing party workers at Ahmad Khan Chowk, Ms Khan said the country’s current system was no longer sustainable, alleging that the “Form-47 government” had itself acknowledged its failures.

She said that the security situation during the PTI government was different from the present circumstances. She said that police personnel and members of the security forces were sacrificing their lives in the fight against terrorism. She added that their sacrifices would not be allowed to go in vain.

Ms Khan said the PTI founder had consistently advocated for the rule of law, constitutional supremacy, and the protection of public rights. She further claimed that the party founder would eventually “break the chains of slavery” and regain his freedom.

She alleged that the PTI founder was being held in solitary confinement at Adiala Jail and was being denied basic facilities, claiming that his only “offence” was refusing to accept what she described as “subjugation.”
