LAHORE: The Punjab government on Monday appointed Barrister Zafarullah Khan as the new advocate general (AG) of Punjab.
A notification regarding the appointment has also been issued with the governor’s approval.
The office of the advocate general had fallen vacant after the then AG, Amjad Pervaiz, was nominated for his elevation as an additional judge of the Lahore High Court by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP).
Barrister Zafarullah has served as the federal secretary for law and justice.
Mr Pervaiz is the second AG to be elevated to the high court in the recent past.
Earlier, the office had fallen vacant when Justice Khalid Ishaq, who had also served as AG, was appointed as a high court judge in March 2025.
