ISLAMABAD: Two suspects were injured and as many escaped after an encounter with police in capital, police said.

Police said a seven-member police team set up a picket at Service Road North E-11/2 after receiving information about a robbery in the area of E-11/4 and started checking vehicles. Later, the team saw two motorcyclists moving towards D-12 from the service road.

The riders of the motorcycles opened fire on the police when they tried to stop them when they came close to the picket. The police also successfully knocked down a motorcycle.

The four suspects dispersed to different direction inside the wooded area. The police team called reinforcements.

In the meantime the suspects continued firing from different directions.
