BAHAWALPUR: The safe city project was launched in Vehari city on Saturday.
According to police, SP Nasrullah Warraich said 198 cameras had been installed at all important crossings and places in the city. With the launch of the safe city project, e-challans and monitoring of the city vehicular traffic with CCTV cameras had been introduced.
MURDERS: A man, in connivance with his four sons and daughters-in-law, allegedly burnt his wife to death in the Masani Bagh area of Vehari.
According to police sources, Muhammad Ashraf, along with his two sons, Nadeem , Abdul Jabbar, daughters-in-law Nasim and Kausar, burnt his wife Kalsoom to death over a family dispute. They were preparing for her burial when the deceased’s daughter, Nadia, brought the police who arrested the suspects and sent the body for a post-mortem to DHQ Hospital Vehari. Saddar police registered a murder case.
In another case, one Basharat slit the neck of his wife, Fatima, over a family dispute at Chak 9/W B Joyiawala in the limits of Daniwal Police Station in district Vehari about 10 days ago.
Daniwal police, on a tip-off, raided the place and recovered her body from his house and arrested the suspect.
