NCCIA ex-additional director gets bail in Ducky Bhai case
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday granted bail to former additional director of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), Sarfraz Chaudhry, in a case of alleged bribery and misuse of authority related to an investigation against YouTuber Saadur Rehman alias Ducky Bhai.
Justice Abher Gul Khan heard the bail petition of the former official of the agency.
During the hearing, a counsel for the petitioner argued that the agency had completed its investigation in the case and that other suspects had already been released on bail.
The lawyer informed the court that suspects including former deputy directors Zawar Ahmad and Muhammad Usman had obtained bail from lower courts.
He further stated that the alleged recovery linked to the additional director had also been made.
A prosecutor opposed the bail plea but failed to satisfy the court as to why the petitioner should be kept behind bars without a conviction.
After hearing arguments from both sides, Justice Khan approved the bail petition of Sarfraz Chaudhry and ordered his release, if not required in any other case.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) anti-corruption wing had registered a case against the NCCIA officials on a complaint of the YouTuber’s wife, Aroob Jatoi, on charges of alleged misuse of authority and extorting money from her husband, who was arrested in a case of promoting gambling apps on social media.
