New assembly building in two years: CM
QUETTA: Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has announced that the tender for demolishing the existing Balochistan Assembly building has been finalised, and a new building will be constructed within two years.
Meanwhile, the assembly will hold sessions in an alternative building until the new one is constructed.
Chief Minister Bugti said the present building has no space for additional rooms and acquiring land elsewhere is not possible, adding that the new building will incorporate cultural elements, with funding provided by the federal government.
The Balochistan chief minister also condemned a terrorist attack on a house in Buleda, Kech district, targeting women and children. He said the perpetrators will be brought to justice and financial assistance will be provided to the families of the deceased.
Balochistan PA approves draft law for animal slaughter control
Meanwhile, the Balochistan Assembly has unanimously approved the draft law for Balochistan Animal Slaughter Control 2025, aiming to regulate and monitor animal slaughter practices across the province.
During the session, the draft law for Balochistan and SEZs Pakistanis Commission 2026 was referred to the relevant committee for detailed review. Additionally, the audit report 2024-25 of the Department of Climate Change, Environment and Disaster Management Organisations was presented and handed over to the Public Accounts Committee for further examination.
Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Local Government Kulsoom Niaz Baloch presented the committee’s report on the Animal Slaughter Control Draft Law 2025. Following this, provincial minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar formally introduced the bill in the assembly, which was subsequently passed.
Mr Kakar also presented the draft law for the Balochistan and SEZs Pakistanis Commission, which was referred to the relevant committee for review, and submitted the audit report of climate change, environment, and disaster management organisations to the Public Accounts Committee.
