QUETTA: The Balochistan government has decided to establish a modern Safe City Authority, aligned with contemporary security and technological requirements.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Tuesday, where progress on ongoing Safe City projects was reviewed in detail.

Officials briefed the meeting that, under the initiative, state-of-the-art surveillance cameras will be installed in major cities across the province.

CM Bugti directed authorities to immediately remove administrative, technical, and financial hurdles and accelerate the pace of work. He assured that the provincial government will provide the required financial and technical resources on a priority basis to ensure timely completion.

He noted that after Punjab, Balochistan will become the second province to introduce a modern Safe City system, describing the project as a milestone.

The CM emphasised that the completion of Safe City projects will help reduce crime rates, improve traffic management, enhance emergency response times and strengthen coordination among law enforcement agencies.
