TOBA TEK SINGH: About 400 members of a sect, including 132 nominated, were booked for injuring three constables, including a female, for stopping them from taking out a procession in the Toba City police area the other day.

The suspects were taking out a procession from Mauza Athwal to Waryamwala Road allegedly despite a ban.

An FIR registered on the complaint of SHO Muhammad Nadim under sections of MPO, the Punjab Sound System Act and the PPC, said that 107 nominated suspects, including 32 women, pelted the policemen and their vehicles with stones near the shrine of Mai Munni. As a result, two policemen and a policewoman of Toba City police were injured. When this report was filed, the police were conducting raids to arrest the suspects.

KILLED: A young man was tortured to death at Chak 294-GB of Toba Tek Singh. Reports said, Rana Hammad Zafar, son of Rana Zafar Iqbal, senior vice president of International Human Rights Movement, was returning home from his farmland after irrigating the crops. On the way, the suspects, Umar, Zeeshan Sabir, Naseer and Ramzan, intercepted him and brutally tortured him with sticks, axes and steel bars. He got injured and succumbed to his injuries at the DHQ Hospital.

An FIR was registered against the suspects by Rajana police. Three suspects have been arrested.
