KARACHI: A judicial magistrate has extended the physical remand of a four TikTokers and handed them over to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) for further interrogation in a case pertaining to looting of over Rs130 million cash, mobile phones, and expensive watches at gunpoint from a house in PECHS.

The investigating officer (IO) of the case produced model and actor Yusra Zaib Khan, Nimra Shah, Shahroz and Shahriyar before Judicial Magistrate (East) Hameedullah and sought extension in their physical custody for further interrogation.

It was stated that the suspects are TikTokers.

At the outset of the hearing, the IO informed the court that the case had been transferred to the SIU from the Ferozabad police, and requested that physical custody of the suspects was needed to apprehend the remaining absconding suspects and recover the looted cash and valuables.

The IO also presented several mobile phones, claiming that they had been recovered from the suspects.

However, the defence counsel strongly opposed the extension of physical remand, arguing that the suspects had already spent five days in police custody, during which the police failed to present any substantial evidence against them.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court extended the physical remand of the four suspects for another four days and directed the IO to produce them at the next hearing along with a progress report.

“After perusing the record carefully, there is cogent reason for PC (physical custody) remand because recovery has to be affected, offence is heinous in nature, investigation is not completed, therefore accused person are remanded to physical custody for 4 days,” the court ruled.

According to the FIR, the complainant, Muhammad Salik, stated that he deals in the purchase and sale of vehicles on Khalid Bin Walid Road. On June 26, at around 3am, he returned home to the PECHS area and was parking his car when a black double-cabin Revo intercepted his vehicle.

He said that two men and three women stepped out from the vehicle. One of the suspects was dressed in a uniform resembling that of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the monogram of the agency was also visible that appeared to be authentic. The suspect took out his pistol.

The suspects entered the complainant’s house at gunpoint and looted Rs130m cash, mobile phones, expensive watches and other valuables, the FIR added.

The complainant added that the suspects identified themselves as FIA officials before fleeing the house.

A case had been registered at the Ferozabad police station under Section 395 (punishment for dacoity) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
