Six national players make Asian squash quarters

ISLAMABAD: Six Pakistani players have qualified for the quarter-finals of the 32nd Asian Junior Individual Squash Championships in Gimcheon, South Korea, on Wednesday.

On day two, Pakistan’s Abdullah Nawaz beat Tavneet S M of India 11-4, 11-5, 11-6 in boys Under-19 category. However, Anas Ali Shah went down against India’s Yusha Nafees 7-11, 13-11, 11-3, 4-11, 11-5.

In the boys Under-17 category, Mohammad Umair Arif lost to India’s Subhash C 11-7, 11-9, 13-11 while Nauman Khan downed Malaysia’s Muhammad I 11-6, 11-2, 11-2.

Ahmad Rayyan Khan was also among the victors as he defeated another Indian player Shreyansh J 11-4, 11-5, 12-10 and Mohammad Sohail Adnan crushed Malaysia’s Mior El-Fayedh 11-3, 11-4, 11-5.

In the girls’ categories, Pakistan’s Mehwish Ali lost to Hong Kong’s Chung Y L in U-17, while sis­ters Sehrish and Mahnoor won their matches in U-15 and U-13 categories, respectively.
