DADU: A gang of bandits shot dead a police constable after he resisted their attempt to snatch his motorcycle near 9-Lakho village within the jurisdiction of Khudabad police station on Friday evening.

Witnesses said that the robbers intercepted him when he was returning home after duty hours. The outlaws opened fire at him when he resisted their attempt to snatch his motorcycle, they said.

They said that the robbers fled away with the official’s motorcycle, leaving him for the dead on the roadside.

Dadu SSP Captain (retired) Saud Ahmed Magsi, DSP Sultan Ahmed Chandio and SHO A-Section police station, Noor Mustafa Pathan, reached the crime scene and had the body of the slain police official, Zulfiqar Panhwar, taken to Dadu Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The body was later handed back to heirs after autopsy.

The SSP said that raids were being carried out to arrest the killers and a number of suspects had been arrested.
