KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly is likely to witness a noisy protest by opposition parties on Friday (today) when the provincial budget 2025-26 will be presented in the house.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, who will present the budget in the assembly, may not have smooth sailing as the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf have decided to lodge their protest over what they perceived as an “anti-people” budget.

MQM-P’s deputy parliamentary party leader Taha Ahmed Khan told Dawn that the party would definitely register its protest if the provincial government did not present a “pro-people” budget.

Sources said the provincial government had finalised its budget proposals increasing the Annual Development Program to Rs503 billion from Rs493b last year.

The CM will present the budget at 3pm after the approval of the provincial cabinet, set to meet at 10am at Chief Minister House on Friday.
