TOBA TEK SINGH: A seminary student was burnt alive and four other students and a teacher received critical burns after a fire broke out at the seminary as a result of a gas blast in Faisalabad on Saturday.

Rescue 1122 report said a gas pipeline was passing through the room where batteries and solar system inverter had been installed in the seminary located adjacent to Markazi Jamia Mosque in Sitara Colony on the Risalaywala Road. Due to the pipe leakage, gas had accumulated in the room. When a student opened the door and switched on light, an explosion occurred, igniting fire in the seminary.

As a result of the fire, a 17-year-old student, identified as Rehan Arshad, was burnt alive while Qari Zaheer Ahmad (42) and four students received critical burns.

The students were as Hassan Suhail (12), Abdul Hadi (10), Hussnain Zulfiqar (11) and Rehmatullah (22).They all were rushed to the Govt General Hospital, Samanabad, where doctors referred them to the burn unit of Allied Hospital.

SENTENCED: An additional district and sessions judge at Toba Tek Singh handed down death sentence and fine of Rs700,000 to a man of Chak 285-GB, Rajana for raping his own minor 15-year-old daughter.

A case against the convict was registered on the complaint of his wife and he was arrested on July 8, 2023.

VETERINARY DAY: The Art and Literary Society, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), observed the World Veterinary Day by holding a walk.

Dean Faculty of Veterinary Sciences Dr Shahid Mehmood said the veterinarians were the guardians of the health and well-being of animals.

He said the day reminded them of their responsibility to uphold the highest standards in animal care and health.

He said that they were committed to producing skilled, compassionate and innovative professionals to shape the future of veterinary science in Pakistan.

Dr Rao Zahid Abbas, Dr Kashif Saleemi and Dr Misbah Ijaz also spoke.

BANK FRAUD: A Faisalabad FIA team arrested two bank staffers in a financial fraud case.

An FIA official said branch manager Amanat Ali and manager operations Noman Akram of Sahiwal had misappropriated Rs5.2m of the account holders of their branch with fraud.

BOOKED: A former union council nazim and his 10 accomplices were booked for instigating village people for civil disobedience, attacking excise and taxation officials, snatching from them property tax notices and tearing the notices publicly.

Excise inspector Muhammad Haris Sarwar claimed in his FIR registered with Madina Town police that he and his colleagues went to Chak 199/RB, Guttwala, to deliver notices where union council nazim Awais made announcement on the loudspeaker of a mosque, instigating the people to come out of their homes to attack the team.

Scores of people snatched notices from the officials and tore them.

BURNT: A man attempted self-immolation on Gaylepur Road near shrine of Hazrat Sultan Bahu in Ahmadpur Sial tehsil of Jhang.

Reports said Muhammad Nisar (28) had a fight with his friend over some issue.

At this, he sprinkled petrol on his clothes and gave them fire. As a result, he was seriously burnt and was shifted to Ahmadpur Sial THQ Hospital.
