Palestinians in Gaza say prices for basic goods have soared since Israel halted the entry of all goods and supplies to the Strip, Al Jazeera reports.

Belal al-Helou told Al Jazeera there was a lot of fear in Gaza City and that people were stocking up on food supplies. “Prices have risen a lot”, and as long as Gaza’s crossings are closed, “the prices will rise and increase even more”.

“People are panicking about food supplies,” he added.

Another shopper, Adly al-Ghandour, said prices had risen “80 per cent so far, and if the crossing remains closed, prices will rise 200pc”.
