KARACHI: The wedding ceremony of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah’s daughter was held at the iconic Baradari, adjoining Bagh-i-Jinnah (former Polo Ground) on Friday evening.
The reception was attended by prominent politicians belonging to opposition and ruling parties, diplomats, members of business community, senior government and armed forces officials and people from different walks of life.
The guests were greeted by CM Shah, his wife and members of the Sindh cabinet upon their arrival to the venue.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari also attended the reception.
Prominent among those who attended the event were Senate chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani, federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Tanveer, Ata Tarar, Syed Khurhseed Shah, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, former CMs Qaim Ali Shah and Maqbool Baqar, former governors Imran Ismail and Muhammad Zubair, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Senator Waqar Mehdi, Senator Faisal Vawda, Dr Farooq Sattar, Ali Khurshidi, Jawed Hanif, Rashid Mehmood Soomro, Zain Shah, Agha Siraj Durrani, Prof N.D. Khan, Pir Mazharul Haq, Ali Gohar Mahar, Ghaus Bakhsh Mahar, Munawar Talpur and others.
Strict security measures were taken and the Aiwan-i-Saddar Road was closed for vehicular traffic for around six hours.
