Ministry arranges jobs for 700,000 Pakistanis abroad: secretary

ISLAMABAD: The ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (OPHRD) arranged employment for about 700,000 people and sent them abroad, secretary of the ministry told the National Assembly Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Development on Thursday.

He also informed the committee that a scheme has been started to benefit the underprivileged. He stated that training centres have been established where individuals can receive training in various languages to enhance their employability abroad.

Furthermore, the ministry of overseas is also providing comprehensive facilitation services guiding applicants through the entire process, from online application to departure.

MNA Junaid Akbar chaired the national assembly standing committee meeting held at the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Building.

Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) managing director briefed the committee regarding regulatory framework i.e. promotion, recruitment of overseas employment.

He also told the committee about the composition of the organisational setup, Income and expenditure details, financial performance, demand processing mechanism, 5 Years details of workforce, country wise performance about South Korea, Kuwait and Japan.

The ministry informed the committee about launch of web-based soft skill training module. The Committee proposed that smart protector offices should be established in districts with population ranging from 5,000,000 to 10,000,000.
