US press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has said that US remained “clear-eyed” about its commitment to Israel’s security, adding that it was “ironclad”.

Regarding a question on arms sales to Israel, Jean-Pierre said, “We believe Israel has the right to defend itself, especially against Iran-backed militias like — like the — like Hezbollah, and so we’re going to continue to do that. That has not changed.”

“And, obviously, we want to have diplomatic resolution here to the tensions that we’re seeing in the Middle East,” she said, adding that they did not want to see it escalate and believed that it was “achievable” and “urgent”.
