ISLAMABAD: Most ministries are not filing the status report on the pace of switchover to e-office system in order to hide their mismanagement.
While the e-office infrastructure had been implemented in all 40 ministries and divisions of the federal government by June 2022, five of them have made negligible use of digital file-work so far.
These included the commerce ministry, and the law, finance, power and petroleum divisions.
The Ministry of Defence Production has made only five per cent usage of e-office while the housing ministry lags behind at 1pc.
According to the “e-office adoption report”, submitted to the prime minister recently by the ministry of IT and telecommunication, 22 out of 40 ministries and divisions did not even abide by the premier’s directives to present their updated data.
At the same time, the usage of e-office system by 18 ministries and divisions was less than 50pc of their workload.
The National Information Technology Board handed over the electronic filing system (e-office) in all 40 ministries and divisions of the federal government by June 2022. The status of digitalisation in the law and justice division, as well as in the power division, was 1pc.
The two have not submitted any status report to the IT ministry after February last year.
The report submitted to the PM also highlighted some of the best-performing ministries in this regard.
