PESHAWAR: Awami National Party suffered a serious blow in Peshawar as its former candidate for the slot of mayor Haji Sher Rehman Mohmand announced to join Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz at a public meeting here on Sunday.
PML-N provincial president Amir Muqam was chief guest on the occasion. Welcoming the newcomers to his party, he said that the people knew well about the bright future of PML-N, which had the capacity to resolve the longstanding issues of the country.
Mr Muqam said that the people, who understood reality of other political parties, were joining PML-N in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that the tenure of federal government would end after one month but even then people were coming to support PML-N. He added that it proved that it was the only political party, which had the capacity to steer the country out of the economic crisis.
He said that PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif always worked for strengthening of national economy, construction of motorways and establishment of new power houses to overcome the shortfall of electricity in the country.
Muqam says Nawaz Sharif will soon return to country
“PML-N will break the bowel of loan and provide financial relief to the nation if it comes into power in the next general elections,” claimed Mr Muqam. He also assured the people to resolve their problems related to provision of natural gas, power supply, computerised national identity cards and passports.
He said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ran the country’s affairs very successfully and managed to overcome the financial crises that were created owing to faulty policies of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government. “Shehbaz Sharif saved the country from default with his day and night struggle,” he added.
He said that Haji Sher Rehman would prove an asset for PML-N because he had grabbed more than 50,000 votes in the last local government election for the slot of Peshawar mayor against Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl candidate.
Earlier, Haji Sher Rehman said that Pakistan needed development, which was not possible without Nawaz Sharif. He claimed that his majority of people belonging to his Mohmand tribe including local government representatives would extend support to PML-N in next elections.
In a separate gathering in Tajabad, a businessman Jalal Khan and many others also joined PML-N. Amir Muqam and MNA Haji Shahji Gul Afridi spoke on the occasion. Shahji Gul Afridi appreciated PML-N for supporting merger of former Fata with the province.
He said that in the past, the people of tribal areas always faced law and order situation but now the situation improved to great extent. He claimed that PML-N would win the next general elections to form government in centre and the provinces.
Mr Muqam asked workers on the occasion to step up their efforts for strengthening of the party to ensure success of their candidates in the next general elections. He said that Nawaz Sharif would soon return to the country to lead the party during election campaign.
He said that PTI badly failed to serve people despite having government for one decade in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
