QUETTA: Almost all national and provincial political parties, except Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl), are taking part in an election for the National Assembly’s NA-265 seat, which fell vacant after the resignation of PTI’s provincial president Qasim Khan Suri.

As many as 32 candidates have filed their nomination papers with the returning officer on Feb 8, the last date for submission of nomination papers.

JUI-F not in the race; 32 vying for Quetta seat

The prominent leaders who filed their nomination papers include Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party Chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai, former deputy speaker of the National Assembly Qasim Suri, PPP central executive committee member Ali Madad Jattak, former speaker of the Balochistan Assembly Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, BNP-M’s Mohammad Jamal Langove, Hazara Democratic Party’s Mohammad Raza, National Party’s Ishaq Ali, Balochistan Awami Party’s Fojan Khan and MQM leader Talat Rehman.

Other candidates who submitted their nomination papers include Zakir Hussian Kasi, Nasarullah Bareech (PkMAP), Syed Mohammad Dawood Shah, Saher Gul, Naseebullah and Noor-ud-Din Kakar (PPP), Nawabzada Sharif Jogezai (PTI), Meherullah (JUI), Naseem-ur-Rehman Mullahkhail (PML-N), Wazir Ahmed Noorani (TLP) and Shakeel Ahmed (Rai-e-Haq) besides six independent candidates.
