LAHORE: Complaints of a grave character concerning the activities of Dogra troops have been received from Multan where Major Ashiq Husain, a former Minister, was deputed by the Punjab Muslim League to study the situation. The Multan League Committee of Action have passed a resolution strongly condemning the conduct of the troops and a certain local Magistrate, and the situation has been brought to the notice of the Provincial League High Command.

…These troops, often accompanied by a certain European Magistrate, immediately began — so alleges the resolution — to harass innocent people, arresting, shooting and bayoneting people when there was no need. Even private houses are alleged to have [been] raided by them. The Lahore Secretariat is showing deliberate discrimination in censoring of news and although Mr. MacDonald, the Home Secretary, is allowing … provocative and gruesome reports of “atrocities” against Hindus and Sikhs to be published in the Hindu press, he is not allowing the Muslim Press to publish much less sensational, but factual reports and statements by League leaders. Sardar Baldev Singh, Defence Member of the Interim Government, is touring with American press correspondents and showing them only one side of the picture and they are accordingly filing one-sided pictures.
