KARACHI: A man committed suicide after stabbing his wife to death in Manzoor Colony on Thursday evening, officials at the Baloch Colony police station and hospital officials said.

Area SHO Irshad Soomro said that Saifullah Bashir, 50, stabbed his wife, Amna, 45, to death over some domestic dispute inside their home in Manzoor Colony and later committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling.

The couple had seven children.

The police called out their crime scene unit for collection of evidence from the crime scene.

The officer quoting a son of the victim said that their father often quarrelled with their mother and sometimes also beat her up over domestic issues.

The son told the police that he left the home in the morning for work and received the information about the incident at about 6:15pm.

The bodies were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to fulfil medico-legal formalities.

Dr Summaiya Syed, additional police surgeon at the hospital, said that the woman suffered stab wounds on her neck while the death of her husband was caused by constriction of the neck.
