DADU: A group of men tried to kidnap a girl student and subjected her to torture before escaping easily past security guards when she resisted their attempt to shove her into a car on Sindh University campus in Jamshoro on Thursday.

The girl who identified herself as Almas Abbas at the girls’ rescue centre on the campus where she went to lodge a complaint after the incident said that she was on her way to girls’ hostel when the unknown men riding on two motorcycles and a car asked her to accompany them.

When she refused and resisted their attempt to shove her into the car they tortured her before escaping away easily past the security guards deployed at main entrance of the university, she said.

A student of third year at the Department of Sociology, she deplored that no guard made any move to stop the kidnappers.

The girls hostel provost Naheed Arain blamed negligence in security for the incident.

SSP Javed Baloch said that police had offered to file a case against the suspects but so far neither the university nor the girl’s family had come forward to lodge a complaint.
