ISLAMABAD: Police have arrested a man and is searching for another one for allegedly harassing a girl.

On the complaint of the girl, Aabpara police booked the two persons under Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 509 (words, gestures or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 292 (sale, etc., of obscene books, etc).

According to the FIR, the suspects were threatening her of dire consequences and harassing her using objectionable photos besides sending her unethical messages. They were also sending photos of the victim to her relatives and pasted them over the wall of her and her neighbour’s house.

They also visited her house and threatened her.

The victim lodged a complaint against them with Rescue-15 a number of times, the FIR added.

SSP Dr Syed Mustafa Tanweer when contacted, told Dawn that one of the suspects nominated by the complainant was arrested and efforts are in progress to arrest the other. One of the accused is a relative of the victim, he added.

Investigation of the case is underway.
