PHC virtually linked with benches, district courts

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Thursday completed the remote connectivity with its benches and district courts throughout the province by video link.

A ceremony in that respect was held at the high court’s principal seat.

According to a news release issued here, in a record short span of time, the virtual benches and remote access points throughout the province were established and the human resource was trained and deployed.

Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan congratulated the judges, his officers and experts over the initiative and said an app developed by the MIS branch of the court should be introduced in all courts of the province to make their affairs paperless.

He urged the bar associations to benefit from the facility to ensure the provision of justice to the people on their doorstep.

Earlier, PHC registrar Khawaja Wajihuddin said the province had 34 remote access points and 17 virtual courts and benches.

Justice Roohul Amin Khan, the senior puisne judge, said efforts were being made to ensure that the courts benefit from the ICT gadgetry for the provision of speedy and inexpensive justice to people.

Senior judges of Circuit Bench Justice Mohammad Ibrahim Khan, Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, Justice Abdul Shakoor and Justice Sahibzada Asadullah congratulated the chief justice over the initiative and said the significance of the remote accessibility had gained importance during the current pandemic.
