PM to inaugurate Eagle Squad Unit today

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan is scheduled to inaugurate the Eagle Squad Unit of the capital police on Wednesday (today) during his visit to Islamabad Safe City Headquarters.

A statement issued by the Interior Ministry said the premier would visit the headquarters to inaugurate the unit comprising 100 motorcycles, established with the cost of Rs300million.

The squad will patrol in the capital on the state of the art two-wheelers.

Interior Minister Shaikh Rasheed will also brief the PM over expansion of Safe City Project. In this regard the interior minister visited the headquarters and reviewed the arrangements made in connection with the premier visit and issued necessary directives to Inspector General of Police and other police officers.

Officers of the capital police told Dawn that the Eagle Squad Unit comprised about 600 officials.

The squad’s headquarters is also established at Shalimar Police Station for the motorcycles, officials, weapons and other gadgets given to them, they added.
