KOHAT: The police claim to have solved the blind murder case of a retired female nurse by arresting his nephew.

The accused admitted to strangulating her on April 8. The decomposed body of the woman was recovered from her house on May 17.

DSP Saddar Bashir Dad and SHO Jarma Saifullah Khan Khattak told a press conference the other day that Mohammad Hanif had found the body of her aunt after breaking the lock of her house.

The family first believed she had gone to the house of her sisters in Punjab, but when they did not get any information about her whereabouts, they broke the locks of the house after stinking smell came out.

The accused, Islamuddin, told the police that he killed his aunt inside the house and locked the door after she sided with his brother namely Malangi over the share in the house.

The police arrested the accused from Kamardand area, and nominated him in the FIR.

HOSPITAL EQUIPMENT: The social, business and political circles have condemned the decade-long delay in provision of Category-A facilities to the KDA Teaching Hospital.

In separate statements, Haji Rasheed Paracha, PML-N leader and former president of Kohat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Haji Abid Khan, president of Grand Business Alliance, and Shah Mehmood, president of Kohat Peace Council, said the hospital was upgraded to Category-A in 2010, with the promise that it would be equipped with MRI, CT Scan, facility of brain surgeries, and a burns centre.

They pointed out that the hospital had a brain surgery ward and a surgeon, but he was forced to perform duty in the OPD due to a lack of equipment.

They added the poor people had to go to private hospitals and clinics for availing CT Scan and MRI facilities at huge costs.

They said burns centre block was constructed in 2009, but it lacked medicines and other equipment. They said burn patients were referred to Taxila.

They said the lawmakers had promised that the required equipment would be provided to the hospital, but to no avail.
