AC made OSD for misbehaving with women

NAROWAL: The Punjab government has made Assistant Commissioner Syeda Tehniyat Bukhari an officer on special duty (OSD) for allegedly misbehaving with women at a bazaar.

A notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department says: “Syeda Tehniyat Bukhari, assistant commissioner Narowal, is hereby transferred with immediate effect and directed to report to Administration Wing S&GAD for further orders.”

A video clip that went viral on social media on Wednesday (May 12) showed Narowal AC Tehniyat Bukhari humiliating two women at a bazaar for allegedly violating Covid lockdown. Two women from Islampura were holding a shoe box in a shopping bag. The AC along with revenue staff and police personnel checked the shopping bag in their hands and asked them from where they bought the shoes.

The women told the AC that they had bought the shoes a couple of days back and now they came for replacement. The AC threatened the women to put them behind bars.

Meanwhile, a family member of the women also came there and an exchange of words took place between the AC and the citizen.

A police personnel pushed the family member of the women and the matter came to an end following intervention by other citizens.

The AC could not be contacted despite repeated attempts made on her mobile phone.
