Four falcons seized from bus in Peshawar

— Dawn

PESHAWAR: The wildlife department recovered four falcons from a Karachi-bound bus here on Tuesday, officials said.

Chief conservator wildlife Dr Mohsin Farooqi said that two saker and two peregrine falcons, which had been declared protected, were confiscated by the staff of the forest division Peshawar. He said the two pairs of falcons were kept in boxes, adding the birds were apparently being shifted to Karachi.

He said falcons were recovered from a bus on the city’s Kohat Road. Officials registered case against offenders under the Wildlife Act, 2015. Falcons are migratory species and come to northern parts of Pakistan from Central Asia during winter.
