UET postgraduate courses reviewed

PESHAWAR: The Higher Education Commission’s Quality Assurance Agency and committee of experts from various universities reviewed postgraduate programmes during their two-day visit to the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, here.

The visited of the committee headed by Punjab-Tianjin University of Technology VC Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid was meant to review the postgraduate programmes of UET Peshawar to examine their compliance with the HEC’s minimum criteria and ways to increase their quality in line with international standards, said a statement issued here on Wednesday.

Director of the QEC, UET, Dr Ishaq Ahmad informed the committee about the university’s various programmes and academic, research and developmental progress.

Later, the committee members met the scholars of MS and PhD programmes of various faculties of the university.

They also visited the earthquake engineering lab, centre for artificial intelligence, and centre for advanced studies in energy to see the efficiency of research and support facilities.

Dr Fazal appreciated the university’s efforts for promoting research.

He asked the management to hold meetings of the board of studies to examine the current and new projects.

Dr Fazal also called for improvement of the communication and presentation skills of graduates and said regular workshops should be held to inform students about HEC guidelines on anti-plagiarism and research policies.

UET Peshawar registrar Dr Khizar Azam Khan, Dr Rizwan Gul and Haroon Khan were present on the occasion.
