11 TTP men’s death sentence confirmed

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Raheel Sharif on Tuesday confirmed death sentences awarded to 11 more hardcore terrorists who were found guilty of heinous offences related to terrorism, including killing and kidnapping civilians, attacking the armed forces and law enforcement agencies, des­truction of schools and communication infrastructure.

The convicts were tried by military courts, according to an ISPR press release.

The brief of each case is:

Convict Muhammad Umar, son of, Deer Khan, was an active member of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacks on the armed forces and law enforcement agencies, causing the death of soldiers and injuries to police officials. He was also involved in manufacture of explosives. He admitted his offences before the magistrate and the trial court. He was tried on three charges and awarded death sentence.

Four of the 11 convicts were identified as Hameed­ullah, son of Muhammad Ghazi, Rehmatullah, s/o Umar Din, Muhammad Nabi, s/o Dilawar Shah, and Moulvi Dilbar Khan, s/o Kashkar. They were activists of the TTP and were found involved in attacking personnel of a law enforcement agency, which resulted in the death of Senior Superintendent of Police Muhammad Hilal Khan, Col Mustafa Jamal and Capt Ishfaq. They were also in possession of firearms and explosives. The convicts admitted their offences before the magistrate and the trial court. All were awarded death sentence.

Convict Rizwan Ullah, s/o Taj Mir Khan, was an activist of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan. He was found guilty of killing a civilian, kidnapping a Wapda employee and attacking the armed forces which resulted in causing injuries to an officer and a soldier. He was tried on five charges and awarded death sentence.

Convict Gul Rehman, s/o Zareen, was an activist of the TTP. He was involved in attacking the armed forces which resulted in death of a civilian and a soldier. He was tried on two charges thus was awarded death sentence.

Muhammad Ibrahim, s/o Maseen, was an active member of the TTP. He was involved in attacking the armed forces and destruction of Babu Chamtalai Bridge which resulted in death of civilians and a soldier. He was tried on four charges and awarded death sentence.

Sardar Ali, s/o Muhammad Akram Khan, was an activist of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking the armed forces and destruction of educational institutions. His acts resulted in injuries and death to soldiers.

He was tried on three charges and awarded death sentence.

Sher Muhammad Khan, s/o Ahmed Khan, was member of the TTP. He was involved in killing a civilian and attacking the armed forces which resulted in injuries and death of soldiers. He was tried on four charges and was awarded death sentence.

Muhammad Jawad, s/o Muhammad Musa, was an activist of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan. He was involved in attacking law enforcement agencies and killing a civilian. He was tried on four charges and was awarded death sentence.

According to the ISPR, all of the convicts admitted their offences before the magistrate and the trial court.

All of them were in possession of firearms and explosives, the press release added.
