SAHIWAL: Traffic police arrested an impersonator while taking driving test for another person at the Civil Lines police station.

Traffic SP Riffat Bukhari said Shahid Ahmed was taking test in place of Saeed Ahmed. Both are residents of Chak 100-WM.

Traffic DSP Gulam Abbas was conducting applicant’s driving tests at the Police Lines ground for issuance of driving licence. Saeed Ahmed was to appear for the test but he managed to send his village fellow, Shahid, to take the test in his place.

During the test, the DSP identified that the man driving the car was not Saeed but Shahid. Shahid was arrested and a case was registered against him.

SP Riffat Bukhari is also investigating traffic police constable who reportedly abetted Shahid to take test in place of Saeed.

LANGAR: Chishtia Langar was distributed on the occasion of 773rd Urs of first Punjabi poet Baba Farid at his shrine in Pakpattan by its caretaker Dewan Madood Masood Chishti on Saturday.

The Urs will formally start on Muharram 1 but its festivity starts with the distribution of langar among the devotees and it consists of sugar, gur and sherbet in mud pots.

The Urs celebrations will reach their peak when Dewan Sahib will open Bahishti Darwaza on the evening of 5th Muharram. Millions of devotees will pass through the gate in the next five days.

Pakpattan District Police Officer Shah Nawaz Sandhela also visited the shrine along with other district officials.

Talking to Dawn, he said security arrangements had been completed and police would ensure the safety of the devotees during the Urs.
