SIALKOT: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has distributed cheques for Rs75,000 each among 23 people injured by the Indian shelling on border villages in Sialkot.
The chief minister distributed these cheques at Combined Military Hospital here on Thursday.
He also inquired after the injured persons and presented bouquets to them.
Mr Shahbaz announced Rs0.5 million compensation each for next of kin of those who died in the Indian shelling.
He also condemned the unprovoked shelling and targeting of civilian population by the Indian Border Security Forces (BSF).
He termed the firing by Indian BSF a violation of international ceasefire laws and human rights as well. The chief minister urged the United Nations to take serious notice of the brutal killing of innocent citizens in border villages.
MNA Chaudhry Armughan Subhani, MPAs Zaeem Qadri, Chaudhry Muhammad Ikram, Manshaullah Butt, Rana Liaquat Ali, Chaudhry Mohsin Ashraf, Chaudhry Arshad Javaid Warraich, Sialkot DCO Nadeem Sarwar and Sufi Muhammad Ishaq were also present.
