LAHORE: Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said there is no system better than democracy and all political parties are unanimous on stability of the democratic system.

A statement quoted him as saying in an interview that no political force wished to derail the democratic system, found no better alternative and all agreed on the stability of the system. He also said the future of democracy was attached with local body elections as local councils provided justice to the people at their doorstep.

The release also quoted the governor as saying resignations of the prime minister and chief minister would make no difference as their departure would not automatically result in prosperity of the country.

He said as the government had accepted most demands of the PTI and PAT, their leaders should review their stances and show flexibility.

He admitted that the Election Commission was needed to be made more neutral for ensuring transparency in the electoral process and hoped the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) proved helpful. He said principled and positive politics, and not confrontation, could solve problems faced by the masses.
