Education complex for poor children

PESHAWAR: Awami National Party’s general secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that Rashid Shaheed Foundation (RSF) will set up an education complex in Nowshera to provide free education to the poor children.

He said that RSF, set up in the memory of his slain son, had nothing to do with politics and was established solely for the poor students of his hometown Nowshera.

Mr Hussain was speaking to a gathering at the tomb of his slain son on his fourth death anniversary on Thursday. After losing his only son Mian Rashid Hussain on July 24, 2010, the former information minister with the support of philanthropists had established RSF about two years ago. Despite threats to his own life, Mr Hussain boldly continued his political activities besides promoting the cause of RSF.

“We have bought six kanals near the tomb and we are going to set up an education complex here to provide education to poor children free of cost,” Mr Hussain announced. A good number of people showed up at the anniversary despite Ramazan and hot weather.

The ANP leader said on the occasion that the provincial and federal governments should do away with their differences and support the military operation against the terrorists so that IDPs could return home.
