MARDAN: The tripartite alliance of Pakistan Peoples Party, Awami National Party and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl has said that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led government is using delaying tactics to hold the local government elections in the province.

Leaders of these parties expressed views at the alliance’s convention here on Saturday and said that PTI had promised during the general elections that it would hold the local government elections in the first three months of its government, but they failed to hold these elections even after completing 11 months in power.

They alleged that the PTI leaders were not only using delaying tactics to hold the elections, but also backtracking on their other promises.

Those who attended the convention included formers provincial ministers Mian Iftikahr Hussain, Rahimdad Khan and Abdus Samad Toru, Senator Ghulam Ali, ex-MNAs Maulana Shujaul Mulk and Himayatullah Mayar and local leaders of the three political parties.

About 600 workers of these parties attended the convention to show their political strength.

Speaking on the occasion, the alliance leaders criticised the bad governance and poor policies of both the federal and KP governments.

They claimed that the opposition alliance would emerge as victorious in the coming elections as people were disappointed with the performance of the PTI-led government.

They claimed that Chief Minister Pervez Khattak had no powers and all decisions concerning the affairs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province were being made by the party chief, Imran Khan.

They said that the PTI chief and its other leaders had been saying they had zero tolerance for corruption, but a Chinese company recently levelled a corruption charge against one of its provincial minister.

The alliance leaders criticised the federal government for not including politicians in its committee for peace talks. They said that bureaucrats or government officials had no vision and decision making power like politicians.
