LAHORE, July 27 A three-member appellate committee will hear appeals of two female athletes Sadaf Siddiqui and Javeria Hassan against two-year ban imposed on them by the Anti-Doping Organisation of Pakistan for using banned drugs.
The panel headed by Pakistan Sports Board director general Syed Amir Hamza Gilani along with Athletics Federation of Pakistan secretary Khalid Mahmood and Maj Dr Lubna Sibtain (retd) will hear the appeals here on Thursday.
Earlier, the inquiry committee of the ADOP comprising Maj Mohammad Afzal (retd) and Dr Meesaq Rizvi had imposed two-year ban on the sprinters, after their tests were found positive.
The dope test was conducted in Islamabad during the national training camp set up for the forthcoming Asian and Commonwealth Games. But after the athletes failed to pass the dope test the Pakistan Sports Board had decided to pull off the game from the contingent.
Meanwhile, it was learnt that both Sadaf and Javeria will defend their cases, and in their plea they would present the argument that they did not know about anything as far as the use of the banned substances is concerned.
They will plead that they were using the same drugs which their coaches had provided to them.
