LAHORE, July 27 National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Army and Port Qasim Authority (PQA) entered the semi-final of the NBP Gold Cup Hockey Tournament at the National Hockey Stadium on Monday.

The fourth semi-finalist will be decided on Tuesday after the playing of four more matches. Habib Bank Limited (HBL) and Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) are the main runners for the fourth slot.

Meanwhile, on the fifth day of the tournament, KESC consolidated their position after earning a 6-1 win against Police. For them Zeeshan Ali (24th minute), Amir (37th and 40th mins), Adnan Zakir (58th min) Sajjad Anwar (60th min) and Salman (65th min) were the scorers. Shahid Waseem (16th min) was the lone scorer for Police.In another match, Army beat Navy 2-1 with Mohammad Rizwan (11th min), Mohammad Afzal (61st min) as the scorers. Falak Zaman (69th min) reduced the margin for Navy.

PQA defeated Pakistan Steel Mills 2-1. Wasif Raza (21st min) and Azhar (59th min) banged home for the winners. Yasin Anwar (54th min) reduced the margin for the losers.

Defending champions PIA, who had failed to move in the pre-final, thrashed Sindh 5-0 as Zubair Ahmad (11th, 34th and 60th mins) recorded a hat-trick. Irfan (20th min) and Ehsanullah (30th min) were the other scorers.

NBP held HBL to a 3-3 draw. Mohammad Atiq (third min), Mohammad Taufeeq (12th min), Abdul Haseem Khan (54th min) hit goals for NBP.
